Excerpt from Devotion Three:

"The Sweet Spot Devotional:

Centered in Christ's Presence"

Drawing Closer

As a child or young person, you may have been taught a great lie. You were told, incorrectly, that God is remote and unapproachable. That He only watches you from a distance. That you have to undertake endless ceremonies and repetitive prayers for Him to notice you.

  • Or that He play favorites

  • Or that He is hard to please

  • Or that He wants you to be afraid of Him

  • Or that He only loves you if you perform for Him

  • Or that conversation with God is strictly one-way

  • Or that He wants you to sometimes suffer needlessly

  • Or that some things you have done in life are unforgivable

  • Or that He deliberately makes some people more spiritual than others

  • Or that He only hears the prayers of certain people...

Have you been told any of these things? Rest assured. Be so glad. If they were listed on a true or false test, every one of those statements would be false.

These negative thoughts translate into obstacles that keep you from experiencing God's majestic Presence and all He has to offer. They are false beliefs that build an impenetrable wall between you and God. Can you see the darkness within these beliefs? They are meant to keep you from God, instead of drawing you close to Him. In fact, these beliefs grieve Him...

Never let other people keep you from God. Draw close to God, and He will draw close to you. He is waiting with the everlasting arms for you to enter into an understanding of your part.

Allow your heart the freedom to draw close to His Presence in the Holy of Holies by releasing anything that limits His entry point into your heart.
